TO BE YOUR OWN BOSS BY THIS WEEKEND
Today we are sharing with you six super legit business ideas that you can start this weekend with little to no start-up costs that have the potential to make at least $1,000.00 a month. Pretty Exciting right?

- Window Washer
- Power-wash driveways/houses
- “Green” housecleaner
- Charge scooters
- Pick up trash at commercial properties
- Poo Patrol
One of the fastest and lowest entry barriers to starting your own business are personal service related professions.
These positions typically require no or low start-up capital except for supplies, can be marketed fairly easy and with minimal expense and are jobs you can typically do by yourself or with one other person.
These are also businesses that can be grown into full time incomes that provide not only a sustainable income – but can also bring you the freedom and satisfaction of entrepreneurship.
Keep in mind, that is not to say that business ownership is easy or necessarily a quick way to earn fast cash. You will need to put in the work and systems in place to grow your business. But if you are committed, consistent and diligent – you have an incredible opportunity to build something to be proud of.
As an entrepreneur and business owner myself I understand that the idea of starting a business can be daunting. I am also a firm believer that it doesn’t have to be expensive to start, if it costs anything at all, and because of this there is little risk in getting started.
The criteria I have used for these 6 selection are that they have:
- Low a barrier to entry,
- Minimal start-up cost, if any,
- Potential to earn at least $1,000.00 a month profit,
- Can be performed as a solo-business if chosen.
BUSINESS IDEA #1
The hallmark of a successful business is to fill a need and then do it well. No one likes washing their windows – and so your job is to find the people in your community that are willing to pay someone to do it for them.
To get started, you just need the clients and a few simple supplies. A few ideas to get your first client would be to do a friend or neighbors windows for free (or at a discount) and have them tell their friends and family for referral business.
You could also contact each of the neighbors and let them know you are in the neighborhood doing “X neighbors windows” and are offering a discount if they have their windows washed this weekend.
Next, print up a few flyers on your home computer and distribute them in your community.
Your clients are out there – it’s up to you to find them.
You can also sell your service to local businesses, grocery and convenience stores.
If you have a power washer or can borrow one – that is also a bonus.
Also, for those of you with a power-washer you can combine your services with the next one and increase your potential earning per client.
BUSINESS IDEA #2
POWER-WASH DRIVEWAYS AND/OR HOUSES
Like window-washing, this is another service you can provide to neighbors who are willing and ready to pay someone to do a job for something they’d rather not do.
Your supply list is minimal – if you already have a power-washer, FANTASTIC, if not, borrow one. If you opt to invest in one, you can get one on Amazon for less than $200.00.
I would suggest locating them in much the same way as suggested above. Knock on your neighbors doors. Take a walk and introduce yourself. Let them know this is your side business and what you’re doing.
People appreciate connection and sincerity. Not everyone will hire you, but you are not looking for everyone to hire you – just a handful each weekend for now, as you build your business.
As you build relationships with your customers and provide excellent service – they will send you referrals and your business will grow.
When I was in private practice as a lawyer, I rarely had to advertise. A good portion of my business was referral business. I viewed “good-will” as an investment in my future business.
If I provided good service it would come back to me – and it invariable did.
BUSINESS IDEA #3
House cleaning is another business that you can start with very little initial investment.
As people become more aware of the impact cleaning products have on the environment and our bodies – there is a growing need for service providers that are mindful of these concerns.
Market yourself to these clients. Let your neighbors know you have started a “Green Housekeeping” service. Offer a discount for the first few clients. Ask them for a testimonial.
Another idea is to offer them a nice discount if someone they referred hires you. Then repeat!
Make yourself present both in your community, online mediums like Nextdoor and local Facebook groups are a great place to start. People are always looking for referrals there.
BUT – don’t be spammy in online groups. Take the opportunity to self-promote when allowed or when asked. Over self-promotion is a good way to get booted out of online communities.
Another idea would be to make friends with local Realtors. Realtors are always looking for good house-cleaners to get homes show ready.

I had no idea this was even a thing until we interviewed, Andre Albritton, on our podcast.
Have you ever seen scooters out and about in your community and wonder where they came from and who is going to get them?
Well you can be the person who picks them up and charges them and drops them off in permitted locations.
All you need for this business is a vehicle that can hold several scooters at a time and a handful of chargers.
In speaking with Andres about his business – he is able to make about $5 a scooter charged and he can make upwards of $1,000.00 a month part time with this side-hustle. Not a bad side-gig.

PICK UP TRASH AT COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES
Another one of our Side-Hustle Spotlight guests, Brian Winch, started a business, Clean Lots, picking up trash at local commercial properties over 30 years ago.
Since he began, he has created a lucrative business that can be easily replicated.
We talked with Brian about what it took for him to begin and how this business turned into a full time income that has allowed his family achieve financial independence.

This is also a business that would be easy to involve your children in.
Lots of people have pets – but also have busy lives. We live in a world of convenience and if someone has to choose to spend 15 minutes to pick up poo in the back yard or to spend that time with their kids or other important things – the choice is easy – pay someone $10 to do it.
You could make this an add-on service to dog walking or pet sitting clients as well.
Seek out your neighbors with pets and share with them how you can help them take care of their furry family members and make their lives easier.
WHY HAVING A SIDE-HUSTLE CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE
But sometimes, you have cut all you can cut – and all that is left is to make more income. A side-hustle is a GREAT way to do that. If you could add even a few hundred dollars a month into your budget for debt repayment or savings, how would that change your life?

My hope is that these 6 ideas have not only given you viable options to create a side-business, but that it also sparks other ways for you to make money. There are so many ways to make extra money out there.
Ask yourself, what problem can I solve for other people? It doesn’t have to be unique – just do it better than everyone else and you will beat out your competition.
